John Adams

John is a principal of The Wellspring Group with over 17 years of experience in the financial industry. In addition to holding the designation of Chartered Life Underwriter, John is an active member of the Atlanta Estate Planning Council. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Finance from the University of Georgia in 1990 and is a member of the University of Georgia Alumni Association. John has coached youth baseball at Buckhead Baseball for more than 12 years and is a supporter of The Trust for Public Land. He and his wife, Robynne, have one child, Jack. John enjoys golf, hunting, fishing and spending time outdoors on the family farm at The Rock, Georgia.

Brian Friedman

Brian has over 25 years of experience providing comprehensive philanthropic, estate and business planning to affluent families. He currently holds the designations of Accredited Estate Planner®, Chartered Advisor of Philanthropy®, Chartered Financial Consultant® and Chartered Life Underwriter®. In addition to other community and professional involvement, Brian recently served on the Board of Directors, the Governance Committee, and chaired the Philanthropic Services Committee at The Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta. He also chaired the Advisory Committee for the Philanthropic Advisor Leadership Institute and served on the Advisory Committee and Grant Review Committee for One Region Atlanta, the Board of Directors for the Atlanta Chapter of the Society of Financial Service Providers, and on the Professional Affiliate Program and Gift Acceptance Committee for CARE USA. Brian is currently in the 2017 Class of Leadership Atlanta. He is an active member of the Atlanta Estate Planning Council and the AALU and a frequent speaker on philanthropic and estate planning topics.

Brian grew up in the Panama Canal Zone in Central America and received his Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and an MBA from the University of Florida. He worked as a Sales Manager for the Southwestern Publishing Company in Nashville, TN before joining his current firm in 1990.He enjoys spending time with his wife Vanessa, a Geography Professor at Kennesaw State University, and his three children. Brian loves experiencing different cultures around the world and, to date, has visited over 50 countries. In addition to his involvement in charitable activities through church and in his community, he enjoys running, mountain biking, reading non-fiction, playing guitar, and writing music.

David Glover

David is a principal and Managing Director of the firm, with over 29 years of experience in the financial services industry. Previously, David rose to the position of Senior Vice-President at Merrill Lynch. He currently serves as the firm’s Chief Investment Officer (CIO) and is the Chairman of the Wellspring Wealth Management Investment Policy Committee. He is a member of the Financial Services Institute, the PEAK Academy of Wealth Managers, the Wealth Advisors Institute, the Family Offices Group, the Global Wealth Management Group, the Trusts and Estates Network, the Private Equity Investment Group, as well as, the Georgia Tech Business Network. He also served on the Advisory Board of eMoney Advisors for over 5 years.

David’s community involvement includes being a Circle member of the High Museum of Art of Atlanta, the Director’s Club of the Atlanta Botanical Gardens, the Leadership Council of the Georgia Tech Alumni Association, as well as, the Alois Society of the Georgia Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association. He is a member of both the Georgia State and United States Golf Associations. He received his Bachelor’s degree from Georgia Tech and his MBA from the University of New Orleans.

His personal passions include, spending time with his wife Janice and their dogs, hiking, winged sport shooting, fine wines, outdoor concerts, and traveling. David is an avid golfer, playing in 15 to 20 tournaments annually. He is the reigning Senior Club Champion at his home course. He and Janice have been members of Smoke Rise Country Club since 2000, and the Reserve at Lake Keowee since 2007.

Steve Herlihy

Steve has over 20 years of experience using the Wellspring Wealth Integration Process™ with affluent families to coordinate all aspects of the families planning. He earned his degree in Industrial Management, with two certificates in Psychology, from Georgia Tech and his MBA from the University of South Carolina. Steve is proud of the fact that he paid his tuition and expenses for seven years of college by selling books door-to-door, graduating with two degrees, no debt, and with money in the bank to start his career. His wife, Ella, who also sold books door-to-door, hopes that their 5 children take after their parents in that regard. In addition to being a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ and holding the designations of Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC®) and Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU®) from the American College, Steve also stays active in the industry by being a member of the Atlanta Estate Planning Council, the Association for Advanced Life Underwriting (AALU®), and the Philanthropic Advisor Leadership Institute. Steve is an Eagle Scout who still enjoys camping, gardening, coaching and watching soccer, spending time with his wife and children, and multiple Bible studies. He is a past board member of Blue Skies Ministries, a ministry that helps families with the struggles of pediatric cancer, and has a strong desire to teach his children a mindset of service and ministry. Steve and Ella homeschool their 5 children: Massie, Mary Stuart, Tarpley, McGuire, and Hynes.

Greg Raabe

Greg is a principal of The Wellspring Group with over 25 years of experience. He serves on the board of the Atlanta Estate Planning Council and has previously served on the Advisory Board of the Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta. He is also currently the National Director for Political Advocacy for the Association for Advanced Life Underwriting. Greg is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERTM professional and holds the designations of Chartered Life Underwriter and Chartered Financial Consultant. In addition, he has written a number of articles on tax planning and charitable planning. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Business from Auburn University and completed his MBA at the University of South Alabama. Greg and his wife, Toni, have two children, Alex and Kayla. He is very involved with his church, including mission work in Kenya. He enjoys the outdoors, hiking and spending time with his family.

Jay Thacker

Jay is the Chief Operating Officer of The Wellspring Group and has worked in the financial services industry since 1991. Prior to joining The Wellspring Group, Jay spent six years as a Sales Director in American General Life’s Affluent and Corporate Markets Group. He received a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Development and an MBA from Brigham Young University. Jay and his wife, Julie, have three children and currently reside in Johns Creek, Georgia. He enjoys spending time with his family, actively serving in his church, photography, reading and travel.

Byron Thorsen

Byron is a Managing Director of Wellspring Associates. He has over 27 years of Wealth Integration experience coordinating estate, charitable and business succession planning. Byron’s clients are multi-generational families, their family offices and advisors. Many of those clients continue to own operating businesses. Byron established the Wellspring office in Dallas in 1992. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from Brigham Young University. Byron is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional and has received membership recognition with numerous industry associations including the Family Office Exchange Thought Leaders Council, AALU, and the International Forum. He enjoys his professional relationships with the American Endowment Foundation and Renaissance, two organizations that support charitable giving and charitable trust administration. Byron and his wife, Sidney, live in Arlington, Texas. They have five children and three grandchildren

Dennis Wright

Dennis has over 20 years of experience assisting affluent, multi-generational families, family offices and their advisors. In addition to practicing in Atlanta, he oversees principle operations for The Wellspring Group in Savannah, Georgia and Chicago, Illinois. His practice area is Wealth Integration™. Dennis was previously an executive-level manager with GE Medical Systems. He received a Bachelor’s degree, with special honors, from the University of Southern Mississippi and completed his MBA at Rockhurst University in Kansas City. In addition, Dennis holds the Accredited Estate Planner® designation from the National Association of Estate Planners & Councils and the Chartered Financial Consultant® and Chartered Life Underwriter® designations from The American College. He is an active member of the Atlanta and Savannah Estate Planning Councils, as well as the AALU, and is a guest speaker for the Georgia Society of CPAs. Dennis prides himself on working closely with select law and accounting firms. He is an elder in the Presbyterian Church and past Committee Chair for Boy Scout Troop 2000. He and his wife, Susan, have two sons, Andrew and Austin. Dennis is also an auto enthusiast and collector, enjoying all forms of auto racing.
